Introduction to Swim Team

Mini Marlins is new for the 2024 – 2025 Season:

  • Dues are $300 per swimmer per 6-week season
  • 2 x weekly for 6 weeks at approximately 40 minutes water time per session


  • Mini Marlins Season 1: September 30th, 2024, until November 7th, 2024


  • Mini Marlins Season 2: Starting Mon, Apr 21, 2025 through Thu, May 29, 2025


  • No registration fees
  • No volunteer requirements
  • No fundraising requirements
  • No team gear provided


Novice & Regional

Competitive Swim Team

10 & Under Novice (Competitive Swimmer):

  • Dues are $170 per swimmer per month / sibling discounts applied for 2 or more members on a single account.
  • Open enrollment through entire swim season September 2024 to July 2025
  • 2 x weekly for approximately 40 minutes water time per practice



All Ages Novice-Regional (Competitive Swimmer):

  • Dues are $190 per swimmer per month / sibling discounts applied for 2 or more members on a single account.
  • Open enrollment through entire swim season September 2024 to July 2025
  • 2 x weekly for approximately 50 minutes water time per practice

Pre-Senior to National

Competitive Swim Team

Pre-Senior (Competitive Swimmer):

  • Dues are $260 per swimmer per month / sibling discounts applied for 2 or more members on a single account.
  • Open enrollment through entire swim season September 2024 to July 2025
  • 5 x weekly for approximately 1.15 hours water time per practice

*Pre-Senior level is with coaches’ approval after an ability assessment.


National & Senior (Competitive Swimmer):

  • Dues are $325 per swimmer per month / sibling discounts applied for 2 or more members on a single account.
  • Open enrollment through entire swim season September 2024 to July 2025
  • 5 x weekly for approximately 2 hours water time per practice

*Senior & National level is for swimmers with coaches’ approval, and time standards achieved.

2024 - 2025 Swim Team Group Descriptions


Mini Marlins is our introduction to swim team:  It is new for the 2024 – 2025 season.  It is designed for 10 & under swimmers looking to see what swim team is about without committing to an entire season.  This will be a non-competitive introduction to the swim team. This novice level will run twice a season for 6 weeks. This offers new swimmers a chance to feel what the swim team is about without fully committing to swim meets, volunteer hours, and annual registration fees. A USA Swimming Flex membership is still required. 


  • Mini Marlins Season 1: September 30th, 2024, until November 7th, 2024
  • Mini Marlins Season 2: March 17th, 2025, until May 1st, 2025


After our Mini Marlins option all progressive levels of the team are for competitive swimming development and are a season membership from September 2024 until July 2025. Annual registration for all progressive competitive swim team levels listed are for an 11-month swim season that has open enrollment from early September through to the end of July.


Swimmers have the option to go on leave of absence during the season when a leave is planned for 1 month or longer at a leave of absence rate of $50 per month per swimmer. All members register for Truckee Tahoe Swim Team and USA Swimming online to begin their progression through our competitive swim team levels listed below:


10 & Under Novice (Competitive Swimmer):

This is our first level of the swim team where swimmers can compete at all levels meets on our annual meet schedule and learn fundamental skills of competitive swimming. Generally, all our 10 & Under Novice swimmers will have their own coach. 

 

Novice (Competitive Swimmer):

This is a level for 11 & over swimmers of the team where swimmers can compete at all levels meets on our annual meet schedule and learn fundamental skills of competitive swimming. Generally, all our 11 & over aged novice swimmers will be combined with 10 & Under Regional level swimmers to make one training group under their own coach.

 

Regional (Competitive Swimmer):

This is a level mainly for 10 & under aged swimmers that have a good understanding of fundamental skills. These swimmers have also started to regularly participate in swim meets on the annual schedule. These swimmers will be moving up to our Pre-Senior level as soon as they are ready. Generally, all our regional level swimmers will be combined with our 11 & over aged novice swimmers to make one training group under their own coach. 


TTST Pre-Senior (Competitive Swimmer):

Minimum participation in 3 competitions per year. These are swimmers generally around ages 11 - 14 that have raced in 3 or more swim meets. A Pre-Senior can swim all 4 strokes competitively. They are building race confidence and starting to understand training terms, intervals, and training cycles through the season as they prepare for their next competition on the team meet schedule. They are looking to make their first (Sierra Nevada JR+ Time) to become a member the TTST Senior Team. *Attendance is encouraged at 3 days minimum per week along with communication of annual swimming goals and plans.

 

TTST Senior (Competitive Swimmer): 

Minimum participation in 4 swim competitions per year. Excellent communication of annual swimming goals, and when you cannot attend practice is required at the Senior level. Attendance at practice is expected 5 days weekly. Senior time standard progressions:

  1. (Sierra Nevada JR+ Time) Many local LSC Senior Meet like early Feb 2022
  2. (Sierra Nevada SR+ Time) Most famous is the Summer Sanders Meet, June
  3. (Senior Western Zones Time) Annual SCY and LCM meets March & early August


TTST National Level:

Minimum participation in 5 swim competitions per year.   

TTST Senior Team Swimmers will be looking to make and then go faster than the CA/NV Sectional time to be on the TTST National Team! Here are the different levels from easiest to hardest on the 6 National Team time standards: 

 

  1. CA/NV Sectional Times (CA/NV Sectional Meets in the fall, winter, spring and summer) 
  2. Futures Times (This has only been one meet annually LCM in July/ early August)
  3. Winter JR Nationals (Annually in December)
  4. Summer JR Nationals (Annually in LCM only July/ early August)
  5. Summer Nationals (Annually in July/ early August)
  6. Olympic Trials (Every 4 years before the Summer Olympic Games)

 

Excellent communication of annual swimming goals, and when you cannot attend practice is required at the National level. Attendance at practice is expected 5 days weekly, and at all individualized scheduled competitions.
